Cyber Security Center of Excellence (CCoE)

Overview / Introduction

The Cyber Security Center of Excellence (CCoE) at The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, was established in 2024 in collaboration with the Cyberverse Foundation. It is a pioneering initiative dedicated to:

· Empowering students, faculty members, and industry professionals with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in cybersecurity.

· Bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.

· Fostering a strong cybersecurity ecosystem through research, training, and collaboration.

The vision of the CCoE is "To be a leading center for cybersecurity education and innovation, shaping the next generation of digital security leaders."

Mission of the CCoE is:

· To empower students, faculty, and professionals with advanced cybersecurity skills through collaboration and hands-on training.

· To foster industry partnerships that enhance practical learning and career opportunities in cybersecurity.

Objectives

· Empower the academic and professional community (students, faculty, and industry professionals) with essential and advanced skills in cybersecurity.

· Foster innovation in the field of cybersecurity by encouraging hands-on projects, research, and student-led activities.

· Bridge the gap between academia and industry by aligning training programs with real-world security challenges and industry requirements.

· Enhance technical expertise through structured certification programs, workshops, and practical labs.

· Establish strong collaborations with industry and organizations like Cyberverse Foundation to support continuous learning and growth.

· Develop a cybersecurity talent pipeline to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in critical sectors like finance, healthcare, and governance.

· Promote awareness and build a sustainable cybersecurity ecosystem, contributing to national initiatives such as Digital India.

· Offer a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and innovation through competitions, seminars, and Faculty Development Programs (FDPs).

Type of Research Work

The Cyber Security Center of Excellence (CCoE) at NIE, Mysuru, currently emphasizes academic empowerment through certifications, hands-on training, and awareness programs in cybersecurity.

At present, the focus is on:

· Strengthening the practical knowledge of students and faculty through structured certification programs.

· Enhancing understanding of real-world cyber threats via lab sessions and interactive workshops.

· Supporting student projects and internships in cybersecurity domains.

Certification Programs Offered by CCoE are:

· Cyber security fundamentals

· Certified Professional Ethical Hacker (PEH)

· Certified Web Application Pen tester (WAP)

· Advanced IOT Security Pen testing Certificate (AIOT)

· Professional Cyber Forensics Investigator Lab (PCFI)

In the coming days, CCoE aims to gradually encourage and support:

· Mini-projects and capstone projects with cybersecurity themes.

· Faculty-student collaboration on small-scale applied research.

· Participation in industry-academia research initiatives and case studies.

The goal is to build a strong foundation that can evolve into more structured research activities in the future.
