NIE has started M-Tech program in “Industrial Automation and Robotics”, in the year 2011 which is an interdisciplinary course. This course is designed to inculcate knowledge and skills to meet the demands of Automation industries. “Centre for Automation Technology” (CAT) is to support students and surrounding industries to develop skills in the field of Automation Technology with funding to the tune of Rs. 4 crore. This initiative has been kick started with funding by TEQIP –II, FIST-DST and KCTU, Govt. of Karnataka. Also Automation Industry Association selected NIE as one of the Competency Development Centre (CDC) in South India.
The facilities in CAT include: PLC & SCADA , Sensorics, Robotics Studio, Drives & Controls, FMS and Software lab.
