Building Fire Research Centre(BFRC)

Building Fire Research Centre was established in 2004 for fire research of building materials. This Centre was started with an objective of service to the society and has conducted fire awareness programmes

BFRC has the state-of-art facilities to test building materials such as fire rated doors as per IS 3614 part 2, fire extinguishers as per IS 15683:2006 and other building materials. It also provides consultancy for fire safety of structures and also repair and rehabilitation of fire affected structures. BFRC has provided consultancy to companies in Middle East, Europe and India.

BFRC has been accredited by NABL and recognised by BIS for testing of fire extinguishers as per IS15683: 2006. The centre has several equipment specially fabricated for mechanical testing of extinguisher and also fire test for class A & B ratings. Testing of fire resistant doors for different fire rating as per IS 3614 part 2, 1992 is conducted at BFRC. The Projects sponsored by IEDC on refractory ‘coatings’ and baggase ash as refractory material are completed at BFRC and the same has been applied for Patent. BFRC was involved in UK- India collaboration with University of Edinburgh and IIT, Roorkee.
