Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications to Power Systems (CAIAPS) was started in the year 2000 with funding from All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE).
The main focus of the research work is in the area of Power System Voltage Stability. Artificial Intelligence application like Artificial Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic are emerging as new paradigms for Power System Operation and Control.
The center looks at development of new algorithms incorporating Artificial Intelligence techniques for application in energy control centers.
The center has full-fledged computer facilities, with associated software and Internet to carry out research work. The center also has a good library facility. The facility is made use of by Ph.D, PG and UG students, apart from regular use by the department. The activities of this center are Coordinated by Dr.Bansi Lal, Faculty, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NIE.
