Sri S.Ramaswamy (1888-1958)Retired Superintending Engineer, Mysore Public Works Department. He had received special commendation from H.H.Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, then Maharaja of Mysore. He was the first Principal of NIE. |

Sri D.V.Narasimha Rao (1889-1975)Retired Chief Engineer, Mysore State Railways. He had undertaken major railway works in the then Mysore State and had received many honours. He was the first Secretary of NIE. |

Sri T.Rama Rao (1891-1965)Retired Executive Engineer, Mysore Public Works Department. He had served in then Madras and Mysore States and had executed challenging Hulikere tunnel. Popularly called "Tunnel Rama Rao", he served as Principal of NIE during 1958-59. |

of time and became really a unique Institution. We earnestly hope that the students and staff of
N.I.E will emulate, now and in future, the spirit of dedication and selfless service to society.
The object of the founders was not only merely to train qualified engineers with detailed
knowledge of changing and up-to-date scientific discoveries, but also to make them useful
citizens who would play their part in shaping the destiny of modern India".
